Department of Evening Studies<\/h5>\n

\n Department of Evening Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla-171001, was
\n established in July 1962<\/strong> as Panjab University Evening College, on the
\n recommendation of the University Grants Commission, to provide the facility of continuing
\n education to those who cannot study in day colleges, especially the less privileged persons
\n and those who take employment after schooling.
\n
\n It became a constituent of Himachal Pradesh University when it was established on
\n 22 July 1970.
\n <\/strong>\n <\/p>\n

\n In 1976-77, it moved to its present independent campus\u2014the historic
\n ‘Kirk’ (Gandhi Bhawan)<\/strong> and ‘Manse’<\/strong> buildings.\n <\/p>\n

\n This was the first institution in the state to introduce M.A. classes in English and Hindi
\n in 1979 and in Public Administration in 1981. B.Com. was introduced in 1975. M.A. in
\n Economics was started in 1990, M.Com. in 2001, and M.A. in Political Science was introduced
\n in 2019. It was renamed Himachal Pradesh University Centre for Evening Studies<\/strong>
\n in July 2001 and Department of Evening Studies<\/strong> in June 2019.\n <\/p>\n

\n communities through inclusive, enabling and holistic lifelong education; to promote
\n advancement in the workplace and increase entrepreneurship; and to contribute to social,
\n cultural and economic development, as well as to a just and humane society.\n <\/p>\n
