\n\tWelcome to the Department of Evening Studies! <\/strong>The first and only educational institution of its kind in Himachal Pradesh, Department of Evening Studies<\/strong> was conceptualized in 1961 in accordance with the guidelines of the Kothari Committee and was established in July 1962 as the Panjab University Evening College. Subsequent to the formation of Himachal Pradesh in 1971<\/strong>, the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Y. S. Parmar<\/strong> invested resources and confidence in the Department for its unique contribution to the progress of the hill community. Since its inception, the Department has been dedicated to providing education to the workforce and entrepreneurs for advancement in their careers. It is for this reason that the Department was shifted in 1976-77<\/strong> from the initial shared premises in SDB<\/strong> College to its present location at the centre of the town, near Scandal Point; this location being uniformly accessible from all areas of the town.
\n\t    The students of the Department are highly motivated and well aware of their life choices; and the faculty and administration are especially sensitive to the students\u2019 needs as they come to study after putting in a full day\u2019s work or after hours of training or apprenticeship. The ambiance of its compact and more than a hundred-year-old campus is one of friendliness and ease. It is fulfilling to witness students from all walks of life and different stations in their careers learn together in a spirit of harmony and cooperation.
\n\t    We encourage the students to find expression in cultural, sports, and co-curricular activities and celebrate their achievements proudly. Our alumni are a constant source of joy as they progress and steadily carve out a niche for themselves in society. We aspire to provide consistently responsive and responsible co-learning and to grow from strength to strength over time.  <\/p>\n
