\n\tDepartment of Evening Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla-171001, was established in July 1962 as Panjab University Evening College, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, to provide the facility of continuing education to those who cannot study in day colleges, especially the less privileged persons and those who take employment after schooling. It became a constituent of Himachal Pradesh University when it was established on 22 July 1970. In 1976-77 it moved to its present independent campus\u2014the historical \u2018Kirk\u2019 (Gandhi Bhawan) and \u2018Manse\u2019 buildings.<\/p>\n

\n\t        This was the first institution in the state to introduce M.A. classes in English and Hindi in 1979 and in Public Administration in 1981. B. Com. was introduced in 1975. M.A. in Economics was started in 1990, M.Com. in 2001 and M.A. Political Science was introduced in 2019.<\/p>\n
