{"id":30,"date":"2026-06-18T07:01:25","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T07:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/123.253.160.124:7676\/hpuniv\/department-population-studies\/?page_id=30"},"modified":"2026-07-13T09:06:48","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T09:06:48","slug":"from-chairpersons-desk","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/123.253.160.124:7676\/hpuniv\/department-population-studies\/from-chairpersons-desk\/","title":{"rendered":"From Chairperson&#8217;s Desk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to the Department of Population Studies at Himachal Pradesh University Shimla.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Population Studies was established on the recommendation of the Standing Committee of Academic Council in its meeting held by circulation on 16.3.2021 vide notification no. 9-62\/2020 (Genl.) dated Shimla-5 the 16th\u00a0March 2021 and further with the approval of the Executive Council vide resolution number 11 of its meeting held on 30.3.2021 vide notification number 9-62\/2020 (Genl.) dated Shimla-5 the 20th\u00a0April 2021 under the Faculty of Social Sciences\/Humanities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The programme designed for Master of Arts (M.A.) in Population Studies is to provide a higher level of understanding of population sciences including an in-depth knowledge of the linkages between population and various dimensions of socio-economic development and health.\u00a0 It also provide a comprehensive idea to conduct further research in various aspects of population and development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Our department is committed to foster a deeper understanding and thorough knowledge about the past, present and future population sciences of the world and India and make to understand the various demographic events and processes that shape the population size and structure, various factors affecting population and its determinants.
